Welcome to our Online Advent Calendar series, where we’re doing 25 days of Christmas challenges to get everyone into the spirit! (Today’s video is a vintage Coca-Cola commercial with Santa.)

Send a free video message from Santa!

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is using a site called Portable North Pole to send free video messages from Santa to each of my nieces and nephews.

You start by typing in some basic information about the child  (there’s also an adult option) and answering a few multiple choice questions (like “What’s her best quality?” and “What special effort has she been asked to make this year?”). Then you upload a photo or two of the child to the site.

Once that information is saved, the site creates a personalized video in seconds.

In the video, Santa greets the child by name, reads from a book about her or him (showing any photos you uploaded) and talks about whether the child has been naughty or nice. He also hints about what they might find under the Christmas tree.

As he talks, the child gets to see Santa’s study, toy workshop and stable full of reindeer.

These videos are so well done, I can’t believe you can make and send them for free. Incredibly realistic and so super-adorable, they make my ovaries quiver.

Go, Technology!
