Did you know Pepperidge Farm was started by a mom?

Margaret Rudkin had never baked a loaf of bread, but when she found out her youngest son was allergic to processed foods, she was a mom on a mission: to make her son an all-natural bread that was nutritious and delicious.

Nutritious was easy. Delicious took her a while. But she eventually succeeded! And her bread was so good, she talked a local grocer into selling it. She called her bread “Pepperidge Farm,” after her family’s home in Connecticut.

The first loaf sold on Aug. 15, 1937 – 75 years ago this Wednesday.

To celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary, Pepperidge Farm is giving a package full of Pepperidge Farm snacks to five (5) Ezra Pound Cake readers.

Each winner will receive a package including:

That’s six full-sized snacks, not wimpy sample sizes.

You can pack them in lunches. Throw the easiest Back-to-School party ever. Take them to a new mom or a sick friend. Or, just go ahead and open those Salted Pretzel cookies, because “You’ve Got Mail” could be coming on at any moment, and you need to be ready.

To Enter:

Just finish the following sentence in the Comments section of this post:

“This was the summer that I … ”

Did you grow tomatoes? Get engaged? Take a road trip? Finish a big project? Read a good book? Make some killah ice cream?

I need to know.

Jot down your answer in the Comments, and you’ll be entered to win a huge package of Pepperidge Farm snacks. I’ll pick five winners on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Good luck!
