Welcome to our Online Advent Calendar series, where we’re doing 25 days of Christmas challenges to get everyone into the spirit! (Today’s video is a scene from the movie “Love Actually.” DO NOT look at me while I get all weepy. Seriously.)
Watch your favorite Christmas movie.
The first Christmas Jeff and I spent together, I found out he’d never seen “A Christmas Story.”
Exactly! That was my reaction.
He didn’t know who Ralphie was. “You’ll shoot your eye out”? Nothing. So we had an immediate intervention.
It doesn’t feel like Christmas to me without the movies. Yes, these are some stinkers (like “Santa with Muscles,” starring Hulk Hogan), but there’s also the Big Five – “A Christmas Story,” “Christmas Vacation,” “Elf,” “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “Miracle on 34th Street” – and so many other great Christmas movies.
Like “Love Actually.” And “Scrooged.” And “Die Hard,” definitely.
You could even pair your dinner with foods eaten in the movie. Make burgers or spaghetti to watch during “Elf.” Or meatloaf and mashed potatoes before “A Christmas Story.”
So, pick a favorite to watch this weekend. Or just have a marathon of past “Doctor Who” Christmas specials (which Jeff introduced me to) for lo they are awesome.
